Seasonal Maintenance

Regular maintenance on your vehicle can help prevent breakdowns, reduce your fuel costs, control pollution and help protect your vehicles value.  It takes about 30 minutes to complete a seasonal maintenance check, and completing this maintenance routine will help pro long the life of your vehicle.

Any local iTAN dealer is fully equipped to offer seasonal maintenance at their shop, so you can get work completed with them opposed to the dealership where you may have purchased your car. iTAN dealers use only the best parts as well as follow proper procedures to ensure they are meeting your vehicle manufacturer’s warranty standards.

Summer and Winter Maintenance
Seasonal maintenance on your vehicle differs depending on the season. Spring maintenance will focus on different elements of the vehicle compared to a winter maintenance check.

In the spring, our mechanics will be:

  • Removing your winter tires and replacing them with summer or all season tires
  • Rotating your tires to prevent uneven wear and help extend the tire’s life
  • Checking and topping up coolant levels
  • Checking your cabin air filter to ensure its not blocked with dirt and debris that can decrease the efficiency of the heating and cooling system
  • Checking and topping up vial fluids including break system fluid, coolant system fluid, transmission fluid, power steering fluid and differential fluid
  • Checking your brakes and suspension. Brake pads and suspension system parts will be inspected and replaced if necessary
  • Conduct a wheel alignment to make sure your tires are properly aligned. Incorrect alignment can be caused by driving over potholes, snow banks, hitting a curb, ect.
  • Engine oil levels will be checked and topped up, with dirty oil being replaced
  • Windshield wipers will be inspected and replaced if needed, along with wiper fluid being topped up

When conducting winter maintenance, our mechanics will check everything listed above as well as:

  • Evaluate your tire tread depth, particularly for your winter tires
  • Check the condition of your battery to make sure it will last the winter with the cold temperatures to come

Do I need service?
Even if your vehicle seems to be running smoothly, there can be unseen problems that can lead to expensive repairs later on. A recent survey done by the Car Care Council found that:

  • 38% of cars had low or dirty engine oil
  • 54% had low tire pressure
  • 28% had inadequate engine cooling
  • 19% needed new belts
  • 16% had dirty air filters
  • 10% had low or contaminated brake fluid

A scheduled appointment for maintenance will allow us to perform routine maintenance on your vehicle, to reduce the chances of a breakdown. Your vehicle’s owner’s manual is a great resource of information to tell you about required services, and frequency of these services.
